Tradehavenglobal: What Workshop Equipment Costs
Tradehavenglobal publishes its real numbers so you can budget a workshop fit-out before anyone knocks on your door. Every price below is the figure we quote, including GST-exclusive supply and install.
Not sure which package
Send through the bay count and the suburb. We will tell you honestly which bracket you fall into before you commit to anything.
Fit-out packages
Three brackets for a workshop bay job
Prices are for a standard single level shed in south east Queensland with existing three phase power. Rural travel, slab cutting and switchboard upgrades are priced separately and always appear in the written quote before you sign it.
Single bay starter
One hoist, one bench, basics only. Good for a home workshop that already has power and a floor.
- 4 tonne two post hoist, anchored and load tested
- Heavy steel workbench, vice and tool board
- Oil drain pan and waste collection point
- Load test certificate and handover pack
- Two day install on site
Double bay fit-out
Two working bays, a shared compressor line and a proper power layout. This is the one most retail shops pick.
- Two hoists with independent control panels
- Compressor, dryer and hard air line to each bay
- Bench, storage and diagnostic trolley per bay
- Lighting upgrade and switchboard labelling
- Site clean and packaging removal
- Fortnightly progress calls until handover
Three bay and up
Larger shops where the layout gets more complex and the electrical work expands. Priced after a site walk.
- Three or more hoists with zone controls
- Zoned air system with two compressors if needed
- Full switchboard review with a licensed sparky
- Bay by bay commissioning with a phased handover
- Optional after hours schedule to keep trading

What sits outside the quote
The bits people forget to budget for
Every fit-out has slack in it somewhere. These are the five items we see cost shops money, and roughly what each one tends to add when it comes up mid job.
Thin slab reinforcement
Hoists need a slab that actually holds the anchor load. When the slab is under spec, expect $1,800 to $4,200 to cut, reinforce and re-pour the pad underneath.
Switchboard capacity
Two hoists plus a compressor pulls real current. If your switchboard is on its last legs, a sub-board upgrade runs from $3,900 and needs the sparky booked early.
Rural delivery and travel
Our Toowoomba radius covers 80 kilometres. Beyond that, plan on $1.20 per kilometre each way plus a night's accommodation per fitter on multi-day jobs.
Floor coating
Not part of our fit-out unless asked. Epoxy on a two bay floor runs $2,400 to $3,800 and takes four days to cure, so it has to happen before the hoists land.
Council approvals
Most sheds do not need it, but some council areas require a certificate for the hoist anchor design. Budget $600 to $1,200 if the local authority asks for one.
Amenities and office
If the fit-out touches a customer waiting area or a staff room, the finish quality goes up and so does the number. Get that scoped in the first walk.
Payment schedule
How the money actually moves
Nobody wants to pay a lump sum up front and hope. Every job we take is split across three payments tied to milestones you can see with your own eyes, not calendar dates we picked in the office.
The deposit covers the equipment order so we can place it with our suppliers. The second payment comes when the gear lands in the store and the delivery window is confirmed. The final payment is due once you have signed the commission certificate and the job is handed over.
Read the full terms-
20% on order
A fifth of the total secures your equipment slot. This is the payment that commits the supplier and stops anyone else taking your delivery window.
-
60% on delivery to store
Once the equipment has arrived at our store and been inspected, the second payment is due. This is the point at which you know the gear is real and in the country.
-
20% on handover
The final fifth is due on the day you sign the commission certificate. If something in the install is not right, we fix it before that signature, not after.
-
Variations in writing
Anything outside the original quote, like a slab issue found mid job, is priced and signed off before the extra work starts. No surprise invoices three weeks later.
-
Refunds and cancellation
Cancellation terms depend on how far the order has gone. Full details sit in the Refund Policy so you can check before paying the deposit.

Common questions
What customers ask about our pricing
The 20% deposit is refundable within seven days of paying it, minus any cost we have already incurred ordering equipment. After that window the deposit follows the cancellation terms set out in the Refund Policy. We do not keep money for work we have not done.
Every number on this page is GST exclusive and clearly marked that way. The written quote you receive from us shows both the ex-GST figure and the total with GST so there is no confusion at invoice time. Rates are held for thirty days from the date the quote goes out.
We check the slab on the site walk before quoting, so the worst cases should be caught early. If it slips through, we send a written variation with the exact cost, usually between $1,800 and $4,200, and we do not start any extra work until you have signed off on it.
Yes, and it is priced on a case by case basis. The install only rate starts around $2,400 per hoist, but we cannot provide a load test certificate on equipment we have not supplied and inspected. If your insurer or auditor needs that certificate, the whole job has to come from us.
We do not run finance in house, but we work with two brokers who handle equipment finance for workshop investments. Ask us for an introduction and they will run through the options. The pricing on this page does not change whether you pay cash or finance.
Our free radius is 80 kilometres from Toowoomba. Beyond that, travel is $1.20 per kilometre each way and multi-day jobs add a night's accommodation per fitter. We quote the travel line separately so you can see exactly what it costs. Northern NSW jobs are priced the same way.

Worth reading these two articles
If you are pricing a fit-out for the first time, the two posts below cover the two mistakes that cost shops the most money. One is about budgets and where they actually overrun. The other is about tool calibration quietly going out of spec and costing you diagnostic hours.
